ABOUT ME

My name is Courtney Robinson. I am currently working as a freelance film director in London, United Kingdom.

Ever since I was small, I have been determined and aspired to become an influential part of society. For me, art is something that allows me to express my feelings and creativity. This is an extremely important part of my life. I have become inspired by individual people who have encouraged me to grab every opportunity and believe in the most farfetched of dreams. Weather they are artists, entrepreneurs or even politicians, I never forget how their passion changes my and other peoples lives. But I don't just want to be inspired by other people. The real magic happens when you learn to inspire and motivate other people, and in turn, they use their inspiration to do the same.

For me, film is the most open and complimentary platform to share ideas, feelings and emotions. It potentialities in ways that no other mediums can array. It is a hybrid scaffolding of creativity that combines the emotion of music with the skill of fine art, and the passion of theatre with the politics of photography. I like film because of its liberal intentions. The ultimate freedom that comes with filmmaking makes you feel like anything is possible. As a filmmaker, I feel like I have the power of a god, creating worlds, people, characters, situations and stories that have the potential to educated, inspire and ultimately change the world. There is nothing more exciting than that. Filmmaking is not a job, it is a way of life. A celebration of art which anyone can construct and be part of.

My fundamental aim while being a filmmaker is to ameliorate the way we experience film, bring back the successful traditions and heritage of cinema that have been destroyed, and turn cinema into a more social, collective and thought provoking process that corporatism has dismantled.

2014 STORY & HEART
INTERNATIONAL FILM COMPETITION
2ND PLACE

This is a film I did in 2014 for the Story & Heart Storytelling Parade film competition. It's a short film about my childhood and how music inspired me throughout it. Its aim was to show my appreciation for musicians around the world and how they inspire people everyday.

It came second place against over 300 other filmmakers across 24 countries.

Here are the other winners and participants who entered the competition

The film was also placed on a website called Viewerstovolunteers.com which promotes the sharing of emotional human stories. The money raised on this website goes to some great charities across the United States.
